Hi, I’m Ian Chambers, I joined The VIP Lounge in 2020, but have a passion for making radio going back to the 1970s, and a passion for music from anytime in at least the last 100 years.
My first radio shows were made at home on cassettes, before I found a hospital radio station in London where I could entertain the patients. While I had day jobs in finance and technology, I carried on enjoying working in hospital radio in my spare time, which I still do, and have run stations across London for over 35 years now.
In 2013 I had a crazy idea to start a new local community radio station in East London, which quickly became my day job. I’m involved in every aspect, from training volunteers to cleaning the studio!
I am a keen record collector, even the BBC and Sky ask me to find them music from my collection sometimes! I now present and produce radio shows and podcasts for six different stations and pods every week, including The VIP lounge, which is very special to me as everyone is so warm and welcoming, I am totally impressed with the whole community feel.
You can currently hear me weekends on Weekend Break from 10am to 1pm and Juke Box Saturday Night on CBC from 9pm Saturday.
